I love performing as part of the Holland sessions. in September of 2017, 5 songwriters gathered together with Deborah Holland, for a workshop series. This is a group of songwriters that are all very different, yet each  so amazing in their own right. We held 6 sessions over about 10 weeks and culminated in a concert at the Tipper where we play some of the songs we’ve honed. Over the course of the evening, we performed 20 songs that are all pretty fresh. Even though it was a few weeks before Christmas, we managed to draw a pretty good crowd.

performing is actually an important part of songwriting, as your relationship to the song changes as you write, and at first only play it for your self, then you workshop it and you bring in a broader perspective from your peers and mentors, finally playing it in public, it transforms again. Then after the show you chat with people and you find out what they reacted, to, lines songs, moments.. and that can also influence how you evolve the song from there.
